By Smiles.
Look. This really isn’t on. Right? I didn’t just spend nearly 40 years becoming accustomed to this misery, coming weeks from packing it in, to be jolted out of boredom by the threat of adequacy. You inglorious BASTARDS! I was this close, this fuckin close; to saying right I’ve had enough when you do the one thing I feared. You give me a glimpse of hope. Well bollocks I’m not accepting it, you get back right now, right back left back to being shite and pissing me off, in that way I can continue my torrid existence, safe in the knowledge I made the right decision....

You know, the things you’ve come to expect.
But oh no, it didn’t work out that way did it?
Years, years of frustration I’ve had, become used to the let down, the pain, the broken Saturday nights, moody Sundays, the insult ridden work ribbing of Mondays, the inadequacy of it all, if I had a cat I’d have kicked it.
I’m just not used to this, ‘planning’ coming together business, I want the panic buys back, the buy a pile of poo and see what sticks approach, ten players in during a close season after selling the rough diamond we managed to uncover last time out, the post Christmas spectacular fall from grace, a lick of paint away from relegation scrape, losing to Leicester on a regular basis the media talking about ‘relegation threatened’ Coventry.
I’m just not going to accept anything else. So much so I’ve gotten hold of tickets to see us lose at Brammal Lane, considering actually going to Fester rather than watching us lose on the telly, gonna shell out another £8 to park in Reading like last year, (not that I want to go mind), just to see us lose, it’s gonna happen, mark my words, no point in getting excited, you know how these things pan out in the long run.
Hope? Nope. I’m safe with pessimism. You always know where you stand with that, it’s safe in the shadows, don’t tempt fate, you’ll only end up disappointed. Premiership, ‘yer having a laugh’. Couldn't even hope for it, it would prove that damn Coleman and Ranson right wouldn’t it, and then that season ticket would have to be bought, wouldn’t it, and perhaps another year on GMK wouldn’t be such a bad thing, (on reflection don’t even mention that, or Mrs Smiles will go on strike).
I fully expect us to lose next Saturday against Plymouth, in the luxury of corporate hospitality, as winning this game would seal safety in the Championship for another season before April has even started, and the odds are now we slide disgracefully close to securing the third relegation place.
No, I had my fill, hands over ears, close them eyes, I’m not listening, don’t you dare, JUST DON’T right?
